The preparation process for parents, god parents, and the child is fully explained during our sacramental parent orientation sessions. Baptism of Older Children and Youth Older children and youth who have never been baptized participate in regular preparation sessions and are received into the church through the sacraments of initiation (Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist). Parents and Godparents are included in the preparation. First Eucharist (Communion) Parents or guardians wanting their child or children to receive First Reconciliation (Confession) and/or First Eucharist (Communion) begin the process by registering them at the Youth Office as a candidate for the sacrament. The process is fully explained at our parent orientation and preparation sessions.Confirmation For Youth and Adults A young person already baptized has the choice of celebrating the Sacrament of Confirmation during his/her Junior or Senior year in High School. Readiness, not grade level or age, is the important criteria for determining when the celebration of the sacrament should take place. Each year of Religious Education or Catholic School leads toward this readiness. However, a special time of preparation is scheduled prior to the celebration of Confirmation. Adults who have never received the Sacrament of Confirmation are also encouraged to complete their initiation into the church by celebrating this special sacrament. Both High School youth and adults must register as candidates for Confirmation Christian Initiation Adults Known also as RCIA, this is a process of welcoming and preparing new members into the church. If a person has never been baptized or has been baptized in another Christian church or is a baptized Catholic but has not been confirmed or received First Eucharist, this is a place for them to journey toward membership in the Catholic Church. Sacrament of Marriage People contemplating marriage are asked to contact the rectory at least 9 months prior to their anticipated wedding date.
