OLPH Organizations There are many organizations that contribute to the life of God`s Church. Without these organizations, there would be much less working order in the church. This section is devoted to those organizations and is full of information about them. Please let us know if you find mistakes or incorrect information on this page. Culture of Life Committee This committee works to instill, through education, respect for life from conception to natural death, promotes respect for our own sexuality, encourages chastity, promotes marriage as the instrument by God for family life, promotes natural family planning when necessary to plan or postpone children, supports pregnancy care centers to help those in unplanned pregnancy, sees to the support and healing of those who have been involved in abortion, responds to legislative action alerts from the diocese and other organizations, and participates in local and national events to pray and witness for life. For more information call Peggy Pinciotti at (619) 443-6586 or Carmen McKissack at (619) 334-2155 OLPH Annual Bazaar This special event each year gathers parishioners and community members for games, food, sharing, and entertainment. The primary purpose for this event is to build community, have fun and help fund the parish youth programs and parish maintenance. The 2007 Bazaar is being organized and directed by Angie Vargas and Stephen Jesser. If you can help with the planning efforts, Steve can be reached at (619) 280-4930 and Angie at (619) 328-9321. If you can help in any way, please contact Angie or Steve, lets give them our full support. Annual Spring Fundraiser The Annual Spring fundraiser provides seed money to get things rolling for the Bazaar. The planning for the annual benefit is half the fun and great friendships are developed. The 2007 Annual benefit was a Dinner Dance and was a lot of fun. If you`d like to help with the 2008 Spring fundraiser call the Rectory at (619)443-1412 for information on how you can help. Altar and Rosary Society The Altar Society encourages spiritual growth for women. They urge frequent reception of the sacraments. In service to the parish they clean the church and financially support improvements that are necessary to keep our church beautiful. They meet on the 3rd Wednesday of each month between the months of September and May. They welcome your participation, whether as an active or prayer member. Altar Servers Youngsters and teens who serve at the altar begin training and formation in the fourth grade. Their privileges include serving at Masses on Sunday and on weekdays as well as at other special liturgies. Boys and girls from grade school through high school serve and are encouraged to deepen their relationship with Christ through this ministry. OLPH Council #13007 Knights of Columbus is a World Wide Catholic Men`s Organization devoted to working in the parish as well as the community. Our Council at OLPH parish is young and we are looking for Catholic men. You must be at least 18 years old and a practicing Catholic. We meet on the second Thursday of each month. OLPH Music Ministry The music ministry at OLPH welcomes and encourages all singers and instrumentalists to join in praising God. There are opportunities for all ages of vocalists and instrumentalists. Special occasion choirs are formed for Easter and Christmas Celebrations. Groups that play at various Masses on Sunday have varying requirements and levels of commitment. There is something for everyone, no matter how much or how little time you have to devote to this special ministry. We could use a few good men to help even out our tone. St. Joseph the Worker This group of helpers aids anyone in our parish that needs help accomplishing maintenance or repairs. If you are a parishioner who needs help or if you are more fortunate and you can offer aid to others, please call Bettie McGoyne or Betty Paull. They can be contacted through the rectory. OLPH Seniors The OLPH Seniors group is maintained by Ann Salas. If you are interested in helping or getting involved, please call Ann at (619)561-7533. |
